Studies indicate that high doses of garlic appear to improve blood pressure for those with high blood pressure (hypertension). Garlic oil may also increase the elasticity of blood vessels and circulation, contributing to its abilty to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition garlic supplements seem to reduce total (including LDL (bad)) cholesterol, particularly in those who have high cholesterol. HDL (good) cholesterol does not seem to be affected.

Garlic produces the organosulfur compound called allicin, which is responsible for many health benefits but also gives garlic its smell.

How much garlic should I take?

Each of our capsules contains 500mg of garlic mascerate. Research suggests that our recommended daily dosage is adequate to enjoy many of the benefits garlic may bring.

Are there any interactions or side effects?

Garlic interacts with some birth control pills, drugs processed by the liver and blood clotting medication. We recommend that you consult a healthcare professional before taking garlic with any of these medications. High doses of garlic may cause heartburn, gas, nausea, body odor and diarrhea. If you are pregnant or nursing talk to your doctor before taking supplemental garlic.

Why should I take a supplement instead of just eating garlic?

Supplementing garlic offers an easy alternative to eating raw garlic, with fewer side effects. To achieve the same effect as our capsules, you would need to eat four or more cloves of garlic a day, which is not only hard on your gastrointestinal system, but also on your breath!
