Benefits backed by science

Heart & veins

Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to positively affect risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. DHA and EPA help reduce triglycerides in the blood, regulate cholesterol by raising the ‘good’ HDL cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, reduce the stickiness of blood and may also help prevent clots.

Brain

Omega-3 fatty acids promote overall brain health, keeping it functioning optimally. They may also improve memory and concentration by managing restlessness, aggression and impulsiveness.

Stress

Omega-3 has anti-inflammatory properties that activate in the brain and may help balance your mood. They facilitate the release of serotonin in your brain cells, uplifting your mood and making you feel happy.

Eyes

Your retinas contain high concentrations of DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids may promote eye health by relieving pressure, supporting retinal integrity and maintaining visual function.

Bones & joints

Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to increase the amount of calcium you absorb from your gut, partly by enhancing the effect of vitamin D. They also improve the strength of your bones and synthesis of bone collagen. In joint diseases such as arthritis, omega-3 fatty acids can reduce the inflammation that causes the typical bone and joint pain experienced with these conditions. One reason why omega-3 fatty acids may be so beneficial to so many aspects of health is that they reduce system-wide inflammation. Inflammation is related to the development of nearly every major illness and makes up part of the pain response associated with conditions such as arthritis. Making anti-inflammatory nutrients part of your diet gives your body the best chance of fighting these diseases.

Why take our Omega-3

Potent formulation

Our advanced liquid formula is designed for rapid absorption. Our capsules contain EPA and DHA, natural sources of omega-3 found in fish oil. We recommend supplementation as omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats that cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained through diet or supplements. Our potent formulation also contains vitamin E for its additional health benefits and for stability.

Quality ingredients

Our formulation is produced from a cold press extraction method like the process used to produce olive oil. The use of high heat is avoided, which means that all essential fatty acids are preserved, along with the other nutrients natural to fish oil.

Interesting Facts

Why do you need omega-3?

There is a wealth of research showing that omega-3 fatty acids are not only essential but that they also have a positive impact on health.

DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that may play a role in cellular communication, helping to support healthy memory function and cognitive health. DHA is especially important for cells in the brain and retina, where it is abundant in healthy nerves and membranes.

EPA, another omega-3 fatty acid, is important for normal inflammatory responses and cardiovascular health. These beneficial fatty acids work together to support many other vital body processes and functions.

When is the best time to take Omega-3?

Research suggests you can take Omega-3 when it's convenient for you. Some evidence suggests that people absorb omega-3 fatty acids more effectively when they take them with a meal that contains dietary fat. We'd recommend earlier in the day and with a meal and water to help absorption. Avoid taking with caffeine as this can prevent absorption and increase excretion.

I’m pregnant/nursing, is omega-3 important for the development of my baby?

Omega-3 fatty acids are actually beneficial for the healthy development of your baby, and generally safe for both pregnant and nursing women. DHA plays an important role in fetal neurological development and may help protect against birth complications as well. Omega-3 may also have a positive effect on visual and cognitive development of your baby.

What’s the difference between omega-3 and omega-6?

Omega-3s are essential fatty acids, which means that our body cannot make them and we have to get them from the diet. They help fight off inflammation and support health, brain and joint health, among other things. Omega-3 fatty acids are found naturally in fatty fish, algae, walnuts, and flaxseeds.

EPA and DHA are two different types of omega-3s that appear to be particularly good at tackling inflammation. Omega-6 fatty acids are also essential, but the modern western diet contains more than necessary. Omega-6 fats are found in a variety of foods including vegetable oils, nuts and seeds. Although omega-6s have been dubbed as ‘pro-inflammatory’, it appears that the ratio of omega-6 intake to omega-3 is more important for health.

Which medication does omega-3 interfere with? Will it have any side effects?

If you are currently being treated with blood thinning medications, blood sugar levels lowering medications, cholesterol lowering medications, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, you should not take omega-3 supplements without first speaking to your healthcare professional. Equally, if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or take other prescription medications, we recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional before supplementing omega-3.
